A Friday full of fins

The Tangalooma Whale Watch had a fantastic time having outstanding weather and close encounters with 9 humpback whales, we were pleasantly surprised when we sighted our first whales in less than 5 minutes into the tour, with a mother and calf almost motionless in the shallow water of the sandbar relaxing in less than 10 meters of water, everyone was super impressed with the water clarity as we didn’t lose sight of them even when they went under water we had a beautiful clear outline.

After passing Comboyro point, there were pods of whales in every direction. We saw a surface, active group of 5 whales head lunging and a Peduncle throw to show off their size and raw power, it was hard for the guests and even the crew to contain their excitement when we saw a juvenile Breach 100% out of the water. We even managed to see a special humpback whale missing its tell tale dorsal bump, possibly from a birth defect or injury, however it was clear to see it didn’t effect its behavior.

We saw a total of 9 humpback whales including 5 adults, 2 juveniles and 2 calves.
