Whales resting in the shelters waters of Moreton Island

As we were cruising towards the north-east point of Moreton Island, en route to the whale watching grounds, we were so surprised to see two whales surfacing off Cowan Cowan! Cowan Cowan is one of three townships positioned on Moreton Island. Guests were thrilled to see whales so early during the cruise! Usually we whale watch in the open ocean waters off Cape Moreton, so it was pretty exciting to see these whales enjoying the calm waters off Cowan Cowan, only 20 minutes away from Tangalooma.

The winds were gusting today from the south, with all 5 sighted Humpbacks being sighted in the sheltered waters off the west and north side of Moreton. The last three whales seen were fairly curious, as they checked out the Tangalooma Jet from only a couple meters away!

We also saw two pods of Common Dolphins near Cape Moreton.
