Casual Visitors

All of these dolphins have taken part in the dolphin feed program at various stages. We believe these male dolphins only attend on a casual basis because we only feed the dolphins a limited amount of fish (~10% of their dietary intake) and also due to the other dominant male dolphins that regularly feed in the program.

However we have found that their visitations do seem to increase during the spring / summer months when the female dolphins are in season.

Possibly female due to sightings with a calf. Seen occasionally in the feed area or interacting with other dolphins during the day. Easy to identify due to her irregular shaped dorsal fin and the fact that only the left-hand side of the tail fluke is present

Male. Large dolphin with lots of white rake marks. His dorsal fin has a distinctive wedge with a jagged trailing edge. Wedge is thought to be a member of a different local pod.

Male. Last nightly feed attended 1/9/97. Nick took his first fish in Sept 1994. Born approx. 1986 and has a distinctive 'nick' out of the trailing edge of his dorsal fin.

Male. Seen with Keiko in the bay and comes into the feeding program occasionally. His dorsal fin leans backwards towards the back of his body. Age unknown.

Male. Is large in size and dominant. Often attending the program with his bachelor pod in tow which includes Karma. Easy to ID due to his curved over dorsal fin most likely casued by a boating incident. Age Unknown.
