Position in Pod:  Bess’s first calf that we know of.

History: First hand fed in March '93. Rani actually means 'Indian Princess', therefore a little bit of a misplaced name as Rani turned out to be a male.

ID Features: Rani has a slight nick in the trailing edge of his dorsal fin. As Rani and Echo are similar ages they tend to spend a lot of time together, both arriving and departing the feeds together.

Personality/traits: Rani is also well known for his signature whistle, which is a long repetitive sound. Rani and the other dolphins will demonstrate natural hunting techniques such as 'inverted hunting', where the dolphins swim upside down chasing fish in the shallow waters. This reassures the staff that the dolphins don't rely on the food that is given to them by the guests, as they demonstrate they are still successful at gathering their own food on their own.
