The Wave of Change - Tangalooma EcoMarines
Our favourite Eco Marines are at it again, this time celebrating their year-long efforts to save Moreton Bay marine and wildlife and a special event dubbed ‘The Wave’. Eco Marine school representatives shared their latest initiatives as they continue pushing for the wave of environmental change in their classrooms and beyond.
School students from across Southeast Queensland recently gathered at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre to celebrate their year-long efforts to save Moreton Bay marine and wild life at the special event.

The students are part of the Tangalooma EcoMarines Primary School Program, an educational platform for developing environmental leadership among young learners and their school communities.
Tangalooma EcoMarines General Manager Penny Limbach said the teachers and school principals had been inspired in their efforts to protect Moreton Bay and The Wave was an opportunity to spread the word about their achievements.
"People should know how these students are making a difference to their own back yards," Ms Limbach said.
"These kids are the wave of change - a new generation ready, willing and able to take action at the local level to stop runoff and other land based pollution from affecting water quality and ultimately, the entire marine environment.
"The 24 schools currently engaged in the program have taken on all kinds of challenges to fight water pollution and their successes have spurred more schools and community groups to get involved.
"EcoMarines mission is to inspire a community of environmental heroes, and the Ambassadors are the start of what we hope will be a tidal wave of change." Student ambassadors made speeches, danced, entertained and presented hilarious videos all in the name of local marine conservation.
