Tinkerbell's Calf Update
It has been just over a week now since Tinkerbell swam in with a new baby calf. The calf was very small (~60cm) but has been growing and filling out quickly in the past week. It's also gaining more and more confidence and venturing further away from mum and playing around a bit, slapping its tail in front of mum.
This baby is number 5 and Tink is quite an experienced mother now, and it shows. She is very protective of the calf, making sure the males don't get too close and swimming very slowly so that the calf can keep beside her.
We will continue to feed Tink out the back of the feeding area so that she can continue to bond with the calf and allow it to suckle frequently. As of yet we don't know the gender of the calf.
