The Humpback whale is well known for its annual migration from Antarctica to the Great Barrier Reef and beyond. The migratory path is adjacent to the eastern coast of Australia. As the herds travel north past Byron Bay in New South Wales into Queensland, they start to narrow into a five kilometre track which passes to the north of Moreton Island, making this an ideal location for whale spotting.
From June through to October, visitors to Tangalooma can partake in a daily Whale Watching Cruise. Board the largest whale watching vessel departing from Brisbane and see these majestic humpback whales in their natural environment as part of the awe-inspiring day tour. This is a great opportunity for guests to get a close view of these gentle giants and watch them breach, tail slap and spy hop as they display some of their acrobatic behaviour. The cruise includes a light lunch on board as well as educational commentary throughout the cruise by a Qualified marine biologist from Tangalooma's Marine Education and Conservation Centre (TMECC).
Guests participating in the day cruise from the Mainland will have time prior to the launch departure to visit the Resort and TMECC where they can access additional information on whales and dolphins.
