The marine biologists at the
Tangalooma Marine Education and Conservation Centre have developed a
number of fun and educational Eco Kids activities for young guests to
enjoy during their stay. All Eco Kids activities are run by a qualified
marine biologist.
Eco Kids Marine Biologist/Microscopic Sea
Have you ever wanted to be a marine
biologist? Join your very own marine biologist such as Mark or Aleisha
for an exploration into the wonderful world of marine creatures. Kids
will get to collect plankton to examine under a microscope, examine
bones and teeth of marine creature like dolphins, dugongs and sharks and
learn how these creatures live and feed.
Eco Kids Island Explorer
The Beach Explorer is an outdoor
activity that focuses on exploring the beach and bush around Tangalooma.
Exploring the beach will reveal various marine life washed up on our
shores from crabs to sea stars and shells. In addition kids will learn
about the Aboriginal history of MoretonIsland
including bush tucker and traditional hunting methods. Kids will also
get to do leaf rubbings and search for animal tracks to make a plaster
cast.
Eco Kids Scavenger Hunt
The Scavenger Hunt is an outdoor
activity designed to get the kids thinking about the environment by
solving riddles and finding clues. Follow the trail of clues, questions
and answers to find the prize at the end!
