Position in Pod: Second calf of Bess and younger brother of Rani.
History: Nari is Bess' second calf and now feeds in Lane 1 with Echo. He has had quite an eventful life, getting entangled in fishing line at just four years of age and then attacked by a large shark in early 2009. His injuries were so severe he spent 6 weeks recovering at SeaWorld, and is now back with his pod in Moreton Bay! To read about Nari's rescues in more detail, click here.
ID Features:Just like his older brother Rani, Nari is quite dark in colour. With an arched dorsal fin and notched tail fluke, he's one of the easiest dolphins to spot. Of course it is the large shark bite scar still easily visible behind his blowhole that truly sets him apart from the other dolphins at Tangalooma,
Personality/traits: At 12 years of age, Nari has entered his sexually mature adult phase and can often be seen interacting flirtatiously with our 9 year old female, Tangles. Since reaching maturity, Nari has developed into a confident young male, and we believe he's since joined a bachelor pod - hunting, socialising and herding females with a group of other male dolphins.
