Eastern Beach

Eastern Beach (surf side)

The surf side of Moreton Island, otherwise known as Eastern Beach, contains six almost continuous beaches that stretch for around 27kms in length. The Eastern side of Moreton Island is unprotected by land resulting in crashing waves popular with surfers.

The surf side beach is wider than other parts of Moreton Island, and connects with most of the inland roads, making it great for 4WDs and campers.

Please remember that no lifeguards patrol any of the beaches on Moreton Island so please be vigilant and cautious when in the water. There are strong rips and currents running out to sea usually seen on the surf side of Moreton Island, and near the Tangalooma Wrecks. If you do find yourself in danger please call 000 and there are yellow signs every 2 kms along the Eastern Beach to give emergency services your approximate location.
