Tangalooma Luggage and Dangerous Goods Policy

Guests on board Tangalooma Island Resort launches must comply with the following luggage restrictions:

Carry on Luggage

Guests are permitted one (1) carry on bag not exceeding the following dimensions: 56cm (height) x 36cm (width) x 23cm (depth).

Checked-in Luggage

Guests staying in accommodation and travelling on the launch transfers are also permitted one (1) checked-in suitcase or bag (max 20kg) per person plus one (1) esky (max 20kg) per accommodation booking. (Example: A family of four is entitled to bring 4 suitcases, 1 esky and 4 carry on bags.)

Tangalooma Island Resort Luggage Restrictions

Beach Trolleys and Prams: Please note that all beach/garden trolleys (such as spinifex) and prams must be collapsed before boarding the ferry boats. Non collapsible trolleys, such as Burleigh Wagons, are not permitted. Any trolleys brought will be counted under your checked-in luggage items, trolleys are not permitted as an additional item.

Skateboards, ripsticks, motorised scooters and bicycles are not permitted at Tangalooma Island Resort. Scooters, rollerblades/skates and shoe skates (heelys) are only permitted on footpaths, and not indoors. Management will confiscate these items from guests if used incorrectly or dangerously.

Additional or large luggage or items such as surfboards can be brought over to the island at additional costs. Please contact Tangalooma Island Resort on 1300 652 250 before your departure for more information.

Tangalooma Island Resort is a licensed premises, it is an offence for a patron to bring alcohol onto the premises and or the boats.

What to bring to Tangalooma Island Resort


Luggage Delivery

Check-in:
If you travel via the Tangalooma Ferries and are staying in Tangalooma-managed Accommodation your luggage will be delivered to your room door. When checking in at the wharf you will receive the room tags, please attached these securely to your bags and place your bags in the bins provided. Your bags will then be placed on boats and taken to the resort, and then delivered outside your room door. All valuables should be sent via security luggage (extra charges apply) as the transport provider does not cover for any loss or damage to the general cargo. If you are a Timeshare Guest your luggage will be delivered to the luggage bay closest to your lodge. For all guests staying in private accommodation or outside the resort, please contact reservations on (07) 3637 2118 for further details.

Check-out:
Luggage collection times are dependent on your departure launch and will be collected from the same area that it was delivered to upon your arrival. Please ensure you have attached the blue departure tags to your bags. If you require more, please see the reception team.

  • Guests departing on the 9:30am will have their luggage collected at 7:30am.

  • Guests departing on the 2:30pm launch will have their luggage collected at 9:00am.

  • Guests departing on the 4:00pm or the 7:00pm* launch will have their luggage collected at 10:00am.

Please note that Tangalooma Island Resort takes no responsibility for damaged luggage. Please arrange your own Travel Insurance before you begin your holiday.

Dangerous Goods

Dangerous goods are not permitted onboard Tangalooma ferries or vessels. These items include, but are not limited to:

  • Flammables/Fuels

  • Explosives and/or Fireworks

  • Combustibles

  • Spears/Spearfishing Equipment

  • Corrosives

  • Toxic Liquids

  • Weapons/Firearms

  • Sharp Objects/Knives

If you are in any doubt about whether your item may be hazardous, you should bring it to the attention of the launch crew or Tangalooma ferries management. Any such items may be permitted to travel on the barge.

Please also remember:

  • No alcohol permitted onboard

  • No smoking permitted onboard

  • No illegal substances permitted onboard
