Female whales flirting with the males!

What a great way to begin the weekend, with 12 Humpback whale sightings on today's whale watch cruise! All the whales sighted today were discovered in the calmer waters, north of Moreton Island. They were showing signs of courtship as several aggressive males chased after a female. The males bumped and charged into each other, which can often result in injuries. The female whale appeared to flirt with the males as she repeatedly tail slapped! As she continued to tail slap, several male whales started to travel her way. Guests soon reacted with excitement, as the whale began to peduncle throw, creating massive splashes in the water!

We've sighted well over 800 Humpbacks this season so far, and we cannot wait for the last five weeks of whale watching!
