Michael Jones (Pilot) Profile

Michael Jones is living his dream working as a helicopter pilot at Tangalooma. Michael has taken this opportunity to capture some great aerial shots of Moreton Island to show us what many of us never get to experience. We caught up with Michael in between his busy schedule to showcase some of his great pictures.

"Working as a helicopter pilot is a dream job, but working as a helicopter pilot at Tangalooma Resort on Moreton Island is on a whole new level. The beauty through the island and surrounding bay and ocean areas is simply stunning and we get to see it from a bird's eye view. There is never a dull moment in the sky as we fly around spotting different marine life that is ever changing depending on the time of year. You can always bank on seeing plenty of Green Sea Turtles plus Loggerhead Turtles on the bay side with Dugongs in the same area. When we swing over to the eastern side spotting massive Manta Rays and the odd large shark is a crowd favourite. To top all that off, through the winter months we witness the Humpback Whales swimming past Cape Moreton on their annual migration."

"The most rewarding and enjoyable part of our job though is getting to share this dream with everyone that is on the flight with us. From young kids to grandparents and everyone in between, seeing their joy as we show them something they would not normally see and experience on a normal day brings a big smile to our face."
