Top 5 Things to do in Autumn on Moreton Island

With the long summer days coming to an end, excitement is in the air as we wait for the arrival of the whales (and the Easter bunny of course!). But don't be dismayed - Queensland's balmy autumn days are the perfect time to pop over to Tangalooma where there are plenty of activities to keep the whole family entertained. In fact, we think the next few months are the best time of year to visit Tangalooma with deserted beaches & cool sunny days - this is Queensland at its very best!

Aussie Jet Boat:

Got the need for speed? Enjoy speeds up to 80 km/h and adrenaline fueled action on board Tangalooma's new Aussie Jet Boat with manoeuvres such as tail slides, figure 8's, wave jumps and 360 degree spins. Departing from the Tangalooma beachfront, this experience is sure to stay with you for a lifetime!

Sea Scooters:

Pop on a wetsuit and head to the wrecks with Tangatours to experience the newest, coolest, most unique way to explore the warm, sparkling ocean waters of Tangalooma and come face-to-face with over 200 species of local sea life including fish, stingray and turtles. You’ll soon feel like a local, with the scooter you'll be swimming like a dolphin in no time, so get in there and feel at one with the ocean. And don’t forget the kids, with Aqua Ranger Sea Scooters available for 8-16 year olds, there’s no excuse for staying home with the iPads.

Transparent Kayaking:

Don’t want to get too wet? Then try something different! Explore the Tangalooma shipwrecks in a Transparent Kayak. This amazing tour starts with a boat transfer to the Tangalooma Wrecks where you then kayak a short distance to see the abundance of marine life that call the wrecks home. Peer into crystal clear waters through your kayak and be met by the diverse local marine life. This is a great way to see what's under the water without having to get in… Staying overnight? Then try the Night kayak and explore in awe as your kayak illuminates to reveal the beauty of the underwater world beneath. This is an experience you don't want to miss!

Desert Safari 4WD Bus Tour:

Cooler days signal the perfect time to head into the desert and test out your sandboarding skills, as you whiz down the dunes at speeds of up to 40km per hour! Without the searing heat of the summer, you'll be inspired to go up & down again and again (this really is a workout with a difference!). And as the day draws to a close, long shadows make for a magical view across the sand...

Wild Dolphin Feeding:

Hand-feeding wild dolphins is one of those 'one in a lifetime' experiences you don't want to miss and right now, you will not only get to see baby Comet at play but also a pregnant Tinkerbell... The magnificent world of dolphins is brought to life during the pre-feed presentation as the dolphins come in towards the shore, and then stay for their nightly feed.
Did you know that Tangalooma only feeds each of the dolphins between 10% to 20% of their daily food requirements each night, meaning the dolphins must still hunt for themselves daily in order to meet their food requirement? This ensures the dolphins maintain their natural instincts and independence, with Tangalooma leading the way in sustainable dolphin feeding practices.
Don't miss the magical moment these playful dolphins come to visit!
