Family friendly fun at Tangalooma

As recognised in Australian Traveller’s ‘The Parents’ Guide to Our Great Aussie Cities’

To provide inspiration and make planning as easy as possible for families travelling domestically in 2021, Australian Traveller has put together the greatest ways Aussie families can reconnect with Brisbane – Top 10 things to do in Brisbane before you turn 10

Listed as a must-do activity in the guide is Tangalooma’s unique family friendly experience of hand-feeding wild dolphins. We might be a bit biased, but we couldn’t agree more!

Moreton Bay is home to approximately 600 bottlenose dolphins, and every evening two tight-knit pods visit our shores, where our guests have the opportunity to hand feed these playful creatures. Get up close and personal with the dolphins with guidance from our experienced Eco Rangers, and watch as the dolphins swim right up and take a fish from your hand!

For those who may not want to get into the water, our adjacent jetty viewing area gives you the perfect view of our dolphins receiving their dinner. Don’t worry, we ensure the dolphins are only receiving 10-20% of their daily food intake, making sure they still continue to hunt for themselves and don’t become reliant upon our feeding program.

Tangalooma’s wild dolphin feeding program is now in its third decade, with 12 regular dolphins who visit the island each night. Before your feeding experience, head over to our Eco Centre to learn more about the history of the dolphin feeding program and what environmental protection initiatives we have embraced.

Wild dolphin feeding can either be enjoyed as an addition to your day trip to the island, or as an inclusion in your overnight stay. Why not book a weekend family getaway and take advantage of our range of sea and land-based activities as well?

Suitable for all ages, our wild dolphin feeding is an unforgettable experience for the entire family. So what are you waiting for? Book now, and get your kids off their screens and back into nature!
