By Tangalooma Island Resort
Roy Hamson, a bush poet of two years, recently visited Tangalooma for the first time to celebrate his 90th birthday! Inspired by the island’s nature and the incredible experiences the resort has to offer, Roy put pen to paper and crafted a beautiful poem. Our staff loved Roy’s poem “Come to Tangalooma” so much that we knew it deserved to be shared with everyone!
We came to Tangalooma To swim and to walk Enjoy a snack and a drink Many places for us to talk We were looking for a holiday With activities we could do At our pace and not a rush And stay three days, or two Check in and move into our unit Our time on Tangalooma we enjoyed The staff look after you The days we could do again They make sure there is more to do Relaxing here, nothing moves fast A sunset in the west to enjoy Watch the large boats sailing past Equipment is there to hire Scuba diving courses Around the Wrecks and the wharf Learning in numbers like army forces At times birds will be seen The curlew’s eerie call Kookaburra, gulls and pelicans Coconut trees, they are tall Watch the kookaburra and pelicans feeding On a boat fly high on a kite Have a chat to a stranger Plenty to do, even at night Swam around Tangalooma Wrecks Snorkel like a diver Take a dip in shallow pools To the bar, a quick reviver At night we hand fed a dolphin Try riding on a quad bike On many sandy tracks Along the beach, we did hike Cruise in a glass bottom boat Observe the subtropical fish Feeding and coral around the Wrecks You will not want to miss As a couple we enjoyed the fun Memories will never be alone The time on Tangalooma we will remember Show the photos on my phone
