2018 Commonwealth Games Triathlete Ashleigh Gentle visits Tangalooma

With the 2018 Commonwealth Games at the Gold Coast just around the corner, Triathlete Ashleigh Gentle took some time out of her busy schedule to snorkel and relax with her partner, and long-course triathlete Josh Amberger, at Moreton Island.

Ashleigh, a Gold Coast local, recently won the 2017 ITU World Triathlon Montréal, and now trains with the Australian Institute of Sport and the Queensland Academy of Sport. The getaway to Moreton Island is her last break before returning to intensive training and preparations for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in April, set to be the biggest sporting event in Australia this decade.

Speaking with Tourism and Events Queensland, Ashleigh says her focus is on the upcoming Commonwealth Games, "Every race I do when I put on the green and gold, I want to do not just myself proud but I really want to do Australia proud".

Ashleigh's partner Josh Amberger is a champion triathlete who competes in the gruelling Ironman world circuit, and claimed victory in the Cairns Ironman Asia-Pacific Championship event last year. The pair share a passion for the sport and love to get out and explore the Australian coast.

Ashleigh and Josh got a thrill on the ATV Quad Bike tour and Helicopter joy flight, but spent most of their relaxing break fishing, snorkeling and exploring the beautiful landscapes of Moreton Island. Catch up with some pictures from Ashleigh and Josh's getaway below:
