The entire team at Tangalooma Island Resort is sending our best wishes to Harry Takis as he tees it up this weekend at the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship. Taking place from October 29 to November 1 2026 at the stunning Te Arai Links in New Zealand, the tournament offers the ultimate prize for amateur golfers. The winner will receive coveted invitations to play in the Masters and The Open. As his primary corporate sponsor, we could not be prouder to support him as he represents Australia on this massive stage.
The upcoming championship caps off what has been an absolute whirlwind few months for the young talent. His relentless dedication has propelled him to incredible new heights around the globe. Recently, he was the sole Australian selected for the International Team at the prestigious Arnold Palmer Cup in Ireland. Played at the Tralee Golf Links, Harry helped his mixed team claim a thrilling one-point victory over the United States.
Over in the US, his sophomore year playing for the San Diego State Aztecs has been nothing short of historic. Harry was named a 2026 NCAA Division 1 First-Team All-American, becoming just the sixth player in the history of the university to receive the honour. He achieved the lowest scoring average in their recorded history at 70.34 and is currently ranked sixth in the NCAA Division 1 standings. This outstanding run of form has seen him soar to number 16 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
Competing across Australia, Asia and the United States is a massive logistical undertaking. By covering the significant costs of travel, equipment and accommodation, Tangalooma ensures Harry can keep his focus exactly where it needs to be. We want him thinking about his next shot on the fairway, not how to fund his next flight. Harry will be competing agiants fellow Brisbane talents: Harrison Gomez from Nudgee Golf Club; and Wes Hinton from Keperra Golf Club; both of these clubs are also sponsored by Tangalooma Island Resort, and we wish both of these gentleman the best of luck in there efforts this weekend.
Good luck this weekend in New Zealand, Harry. The Tangalooma family will be cheering you on!
