Lazy Sunday
Passengers on board the Tangalooma Jet were very fortunate to see a total of 16 Humpback whales on today’s whale watch! As it was a Sunday, the whales definitely took this into consideration as they were conservative with their energy, with many breaths of fresh air seen on their northern migration to warmer tropical waters. A few other behaviours were observed including head lunges and breaches. Our last whale we watched was a calf, possibly a 1-2 year old. This calf was at his roaming stage of his lifecycle and presented us with an enjoyable breaching show, meaning he may have been trying to send a message to other pods in the same area. More abundant marine life was seen in the waters off Cape Moreton, including 3 Green sea turtles and 5 Bottlenose dolphins!
