Taking the spotlight

The spotlight was taken off the whales today and full attention spanned to a pod of around 20 Common dolphins! A total of 3 Humpback whales were seen today, including a mum and her newborn calf, as well as a juvenile. The juvenile whale seemed very relaxed at the start, however when this pod of Common dolphins approached, the whale fired up with many spectacular behaviours. The juvenile whale performed many tail extensions, tail slaps, breaches, peduncle throws and spy hops, which delighted the guests on board the Tangalooma Jet! Just when we thought it was all over, two Common dolphins (mother and calf) breached off the bow of the Jet!

Overall, it was an eye-catching whale/dolphin watch today!
