By Tangalooma Island Resort
We are delighted to share the results of the 2025 whale watching research project, completed in partnership with Dr Aaron Tkaczynski from The University of Queensland. This collaboration set out to better understand how eco-tourism experiences can foster environmental awareness and inspire action to protect marine life and our oceans.
The findings highlight that those who joined our whale watching cruises often have a strong personal commitment to caring for the environment and supporting marine conservation. Many guests expressed a genuine curiosity to learn more about ocean life and the important role sustainable tourism plays in preserving it for future generations.
We were also thrilled to see how satisfied and inspired our visitors felt throughout their experience, with an impressive average satisfaction score of 6.5 out of 7. Their feedback reinforces the value of connecting people with nature in a meaningful way, reminding us that tourism can be both enjoyable and purposeful.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who took part in the study and shared their thoughts. Your insights will continue to help us enhance our tours, deepen our educational programs and champion responsible tourism practices
