Travel up the western beach past the famous Tangalooma shipwrecks and across Middle Road to the vast Eastern beach before arriving at the stunning Blue Lagoon. Hidden away on the Eastern side of Moreton Island, Blue Lagoon is a unique natural freshwater lake largely known as both a great swimming location and bird watching hub, with many species living in & around the area.
Unlike most freshwater lakes, which are fed by local freshwater streams or rivers, Blue Lagoon is filled from the fresh, underground water table that comes up through the sandy soil. Framed by tea trees, the deep brown water contains the natural oil of the tea trees, said to hold healing qualities. Word on the island is that a swim in Blue Lagoon leaves you feeling years younger, as you emerge relaxed and with baby soft skin from this natural spa pool! Available during the Summer months, November to February.
Venture to the Eastern side of the island to the Blue Lagoon and see nature’s pure, underground water. Covering 42 hectares, it’s one of the largest freshwater lakes on the island. Travel up the Western beach, past the Wrecks and then through Middle Road across to the Eastern Beach, all while learning all about the unique fauna, flora & history of the island. Relax and swim at Blue Lagoon whilst being treated to a light morning damper or afternoon tea. Make sure to bring your swimming gear and towel as this tour spends 1.5-2 hours at the Blue Lagoon. This tour runs from November to February.
