White-bellied Sea-Eagle's release on Moreton Island

In early February, a White-bellied Sea-Eagle named Moreton was found after being hit by a car on the beaches of Mulgumpin (Moreton Island). Sadly Moreton was also found to have a large fishing hook in her stomach so she was very lucky to have been found alive.

With a large 2 metre wingspan, it certainly wasn't an easy task but Moreton was taken off the island to receive x-rays and expert veterinarian care and rehabilitation. After receiving surgery to extract the stainless steel hook, and nursed back to full health, Moreton was brought back to the island and safely re-released just south of Middle Road.
