Up close and personal

What a spectacular day on board the Tangalooma Jet for today's whale watch cruise, with 16 whales sighted! The cruise started off with a couple of curious Humpback whales, who swam alongside and under the Jet. Guests watched in awe at these gentle giants of the sea surfaced just meters from us! These two whales were definitely people watching, as they wanted to get a closer look at us. As we continued the whale watch, we saw more and more pods of Humpback whales. Three green sea turtles also said hello to guests as they surfaced right next to Flinders reef.

Just when we thought it was all over, we noticed heaps of splashing 500 meters from the Jet. We approached closer to this active pod and were delighted to see many breaches and pec slaps! As we were gazing over the water, we were so surprised to see yet another double breach of the 2017 whale watch season. It was incredible to see these two adult Humpback whales simultaneously leap out of the water! The whales were then waving at us with many pectoral slaps on the surface of the water.
