Whales surfing in the swell!

What a great day for a whale watch cruise! Guests on board the Tangalooma Jet were delighted to see a total of 9 Humpback whales, including 4 adults and 5 juveniles. We saw an interesting sight, with a number of the observed whales surfing in the rocking swells! This may have been a way for them to conserve their energy, and use the momentum of the swell to push them further north. Just shows that you will never know what to expect on our Whale Watching cruises from Brisbane!

Unfortunately, we didn't get a glimpse of Migaloo, a rare albino Humpback whale that was last seen on the Gold Coast just yesterday. He most likely migrated past Moreton Island last night in the cover of darkness. Fingers crossed we will get to see this beautiful mammal as he travels back south in the next few months!
