Humpback Whales only metres away from the Tangalooma Jet!

What a great way to start the weekend, with 8 Humpback whales sighted on today’s whale watch cruise! On board the Tangalooma Jet, we made our way closer to Cape Moreton. Out at Cape Moreton we noticed plenty of whale action, with heaps of splashes on the horizon! The first whale seen was a sub-active, and gave us an entertaining show. This particular whale performed multiple breaches, tails slaps, and tail throws! The whale was definitely attempting to send a message out to surrounding Humpback whales. Once we finished viewing this whale,  we came across 7 other whales in the same area. These whales continued to regroup and disband within their pods. At one time, we were surrounded by 3 different pods of whales! Two of these whales were quite curious, and approached closer to the boat to ‘people watch’. Guests were thrilled to see them surface only metres away from the Tangalooma Jet!

It’s quite incredible to believe that today we got to witness 8 out of 28,000 Humpback whales, expected to migrate past the east coast of Australia this year alone!
