Plenty of whales of different ages

The beautiful weather certainly complimented today's whale watch cruise, with 8 Humpback whale sightings. As we cruised through the crystal clear waters off Cape Moreton, we saw whale blows in the distance. We approached this pod, which included 2 adults and a calf, most likely born during last years migration. As we were watching this pod, they surprisingly began to breach, tail throw and tail slap! The guests all reacted with excitement.

We then sighted a few more pods closer to Flinders reef, that continued to surface as they were heading north. Most of the whales we watched were conserving their energy for the long migration road ahead of them.

It was great that we saw whales of all ages today; from calves to juveniles, to adults. In the next few months, we will see a sudden boost of newborn calves coming back south with their mothers to Antarctica.
