Beautiful conditions for today's whale watch

What a beautiful day to go whale watching, with 12 magnificent Humpbacks sighted! The cruise started with a mother-calf pair, that were surfacing off Comboyuro Point. They looked very relaxed in the shallow calm waters. We then continued our journey to Cape Moreton.

There were pods everywhere off Cape Moreton! These whales were travelling both north and south, with different behaviours sighted such as bubble trails and charging. The conditions were very calm with little swell, so the whales were able to effectively communicate via. their vocalisations under water. When it's rough, we often see more surface-active whales, as their big splash sounds from breaching and pec slaps can be heard further away by other whale pods.

The whale activity is likely to heat up in the next coming days, with the expected winter heat wave on its way!
