Whale of a day

Wow, wow, wow, what a whale of a day! It was only our second day into our whale watching season and we spotted 17 whales during the tour. The first pod of whales were spotted frolicking at the base of Cape Moreton. As we were admiring these beautiful creatures we heard a call over the boat radio that another pod of whales were heading towards the Tangalooma Jet. Suddenly the whales emerged right next to the Jet and as they surfaced we could hear their explosive exhales.

Soon other whales were approaching the Tangalooma Jet and we seemed to be surrounded by whales. There were whales to the North, South, East and West of us, it was just incredible for all guests on board. Although the whales were on a mission heading north, they did appear to be very curious and stayed around the Tangalooma Jet for most of the tour. As the whales were surfacing every 2-3 minutes, we all got a great look at the incredible size of these magnificent creatures.

Sadly it was time to head back to the resort, so we all farewelled the whales and slowly made our way back. All of the guests settled back into their seats with a smile on their face, no doubt reflecting on their amazing experience.

Today's sightings included 10 adults whales and 7 juveniles.
