Located close to a major city with some of the cheapest flights to and from other major cities in Australia. Majority of the attendees were located all around QLD. Many of the organising committee had already been to Tangalooma in the past and really enjoyed the resort.
Overall the weekend was a huge success. Friday night get together under the old whaling station was a great way to kickstart the reunion with plenty of drinks and finger food provided. Staff on this night were fantastic.
Saturday nights bonfire down by the water was also a huge success. Buffet dinner was great with plenty of options for all members attending. Again the staff provided great service. Breakfast banquet was also well received by all members. Accommodation was fit for purpose since we didn’t spend much time there.
Tangalooma staff were awesome with their flexibility of our function that was extremely difficult to arrange. Our reunion of ADF members were located all over Australia and with so many deployments on and also some that were unexpected, provided havoc with our final numbers. We went from having around 150 people to only getting 37 people by a month out of the event. Tangalooma went above and beyond to assist us with this issue and fully understood our situation. We do express our apologies for all the changes but with the Defence Force it can be hard to lock people down for a particular date.
Bonfire dinner is a must for all groups. This was a great night. Spend the time to walk down to the ship wrecks and do some snorkelling. Very tiresome but worth the look.
