Event Testimonial/Case Study – National Foundation for Medical Research and Innovation (NFMRI) Conference
In November 2024, the National Foundation for Medical Research and Innovation (NFMRI) hosted a dynamic three-day conference at the stunning Tangalooma Island Resort. The event focused on exploring innovative strategies to strengthen and support Australia’s biomedical innovation sector.
This networking and educational gathering brought together an esteemed group of experts and decision-makers, including representatives from universities, medical research institutes, philanthropic organisations, government bodies, industry, venture capital, trusts, and foundations.
Delegates visited Tangalooma from both Queensland and interstate. For guests flying into Brisbane, Tangalooma's Holt Street Wharf was conveniently located just a 10-minute drive from the airport. This close proximity ensured a seamless transition, allowing delegates to quickly board their boat transfer and enjoy the scenic 75-minute journey to Tangalooma Island Resort.
During their stay, guests were captivated by Tangalooma’s Wild Dolphin Feeding experience. This unique opportunity to hand-feed wild dolphins as they visit the shores each evening is a truly unforgettable highlight, adding a once-in-a-lifetime touch to any conference hosted at Tangalooma Island Resort.
The first evening, after all guests had arrived at the resort, welcomed everyone to a networking function with specialised catering for dinner and beverages on consumption. This function was held in the Wheelhouse, Tangalooma’s newest venue that offers a modern, spacious deck and panoramic views of Moreton Bay.
The multi-day conference was held in Tangalooma’s premium beachfront conference venue – The Waterfront Pavilion, which was styled to meet the conference requirements. The Waterfront Pavilion allows delegates to enjoy a private slice of absolute ocean frontage and enjoy ocean breezes on the lawn. NFMRI’s Gala and Awards Dinner was also held in the Waterfront Pavilion, and guests were treated to a specialised 3-course-menu with premium steak, fresh seafood, delicious desserts and a beautiful selection of wine!
Nancy Ranner, the NFMRI conference organiser, expressed her appreciation for the event and the location, stating “Everyone was absolutely fantastic. I’ll have to travel up there next year and bring the family! Such a beautiful location.”
