Tangalooma Island Resort Day Trip
Conference objective: To create a fun-filled activity & relaxation day within close proximity to Brisbane offering a range of conferencing spaces, catering and activity opportunities for a wide variety of delegates at the end of a high-pressure 5-day conference.
The Pedders Suspension Conference consists of a jam-packed week of conference sessions and evening social functions. For the first time this year they decided to incorporate a ‘fun day’ for their delegates to provide some downtime in an otherwise packed schedule. Criteria included being within quick and easy access from Brisbane, but at the same time offer a real ‘escape’ from the pressures of the conference, allowing delegates to both relax and have fun!
So, what better way to start the day than a beautiful boat ride across Moreton Bay to splendid Moreton Island? Just 75 minutes from Brisbane, Moreton Island feels a million miles away from the pressures of a busy work environment. Even as the island came into view, everyone’s stress levels had dropped considerably and excitement was high. Although the day still incorporated a two hour conferencing session, working Tanga-style was a whole new experience, with the conferencing venue in the Waterfront pavilion, set right on the beachfront.
The business end of the day over, it was time for the fun to begin – though as we all know, conferencing is hungry-work, so first it was time for a delicious lunch overlooking the pristine white sands and deep blue waters in front of the resort.
Activities undertaken by the delegates included ATV Quad Bike Tours, Snorkel tours, Segways Tours, the Desert Safari, which takes you up into the desert for an exhilarating sandboarding experience allowing you to reach speeds of up to 40km an hour as you hurtle down the dunes on a sand toboggan and for others, simply relaxing in the bar.

“The feedback surveys are in and it was definitely a huge success! The wild dolphin feeding experienced at Tangalooma was a highlight for many of the guests and something they just won’t experience elsewhere. The resort has so many options for everyone, and was just what the delegates needed. The Tangalooma staff were so friendly and helpful and the quality of food and venue options was exceptional. It felt like a mini-holiday!”
The only complaint? No-one wanted to leave! So next time Pedders Suspension will be looking to incorporate an overnight stay for their delegates so they can experience how magical Tangalooma is at night and early in the morning. Bliss!
